Residential trash, recycling and curbside green waste in Tulsa are collected citywide by one private contractor, Northeast Waste Solutions (NeWSolutions), under an exclusive contract held by the Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy (TARE). The City itself runs bulky waste pickup by appointment. A new 10-year contract with the same hauler (approved Oct 28, 2025) began Oct 1, 2026: twice-a-week and extended backyard service ended, so trash and recycling are once a week on the same day. Your day is set by neighborhood (see the city's route map). Only New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas move pickups: that day and the rest of the week slide one day later.

The 2025 request for proposals (RFP TAC 893A, June 2025) names Northeast Waste Solutions as the existing trash, recycling and green waste hauler and set the new contract to start Oct 1, 2026, for 10 years to Sep 30, 2036. A report on the Oct 28, 2025 board meeting says the TARE board approved the new contract with Northeast Waste Solutions. City web pages don't name the hauler. Trash goes weekly in 32, 64 or 96-gallon gray carts and recycling weekly in 96-gallon blue carts; separate trucks empty them at different times on the same day. Yard waste goes at the curb on collection day in clear bags or bundles (up to 4 ft by 2 ft, under 40 lb), with up to 15 extra bags a week allowed with stickers.

The city's services guide says apartments, commercial buildings and triplexes use M.e.t. recycling drop-off sites instead of curbside recycling, and commercial service isn't part of the residential program. Bulky waste pickup is only for households with the utility account in the full-time resident's name, so houses owned by a corporation or LLC aren't served.
