Garbage is weekly. Recycling and organics are weekly, on the same day as each other, and garbage is on a different day. Brush and bulky items are collected at the curb twice a year, with a door hanger or notice 7 to 10 days ahead, and piles go out by 7 a.m. Monday of the collection week. Leaves get two free collections per fiscal year. The City's current pages name no private collection contractors. A contracted company processes the recycling (2021 news reports said Republic Services held that contract through 2024). Council memos from 2002 and 2005 show the City then contracted residential collection in some annexed areas (IH-10 East/Sunrise to BFI; Timber Ridge, IH-10 West and Stone Oak to Waste Management). The City's current pages don't mention those contracts, so call 311 if you're unsure who collects in those areas. In Nov 2022 SWMD rebalanced routes: about 80% of customers got new days, and Saturday collection ended.

Curbside service is only for customers who pay the City services fee through CPS Energy (about 363,000 single-family households). Apartment and multi-family complexes and businesses use private haulers registered with the City; multi-family complexes must provide recycling under City Code Ch. 14. The City doesn't publish a unit-count cutoff.

San Antonio trash pickup holiday schedule

San Antonio hasn’t posted a holiday schedule for the rest of 2026 or 2027 yet.

SWMD posts holiday schedules by fiscal year (Oct 1 to Sep 30), 'by early November.' Its My Collection Day pages still show only the FY2026 schedule (Nov 11, 2025 to Sep 7, 2026), so no holiday changes are posted yet for the rest of 2026 or for 2027. In FY2026, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's weeks moved only Thursday routes to Friday and Friday routes to Saturday, and MLK week moved Monday through Friday one day later. Veterans Day, a City holiday on Apr 3, Fiesta San Jacinto Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4 (observed) and Labor Day had no changes. Check the City's My Collection Day pages in early November 2026.

No dates to list yet. Check San Antonio’s page before each holiday week.
