City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services collects residential garbage (weekly), recycling (every other week, on Schedule A or B) and yard waste citywide. Pickups run Tuesday through Friday, and garbage, recycling and yard waste are normally collected on the same weekday; look up your address in the Raleigh Reuse web tool or app. Since Sep 8, 2026, yard waste is weekly and loose-leaf vacuum collection has ended. Holiday changes show up only in each address's Reuse calendar; in 2025, Thanksgiving pushed Thursday and Friday routes back one day.

Customer Support Center: 919-996-3245, sws@raleighnc.gov, 630 Beacon Lake Dr., Raleigh, NC 27610. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Bulky, special and e-waste pickups are by request. Backyard service is available for qualified residents with disabilities. Yard waste moved to weekly pickup on Sep 8, 2026 (in bins or biodegradable bags), and the collection day didn't change.

Apartments, condos and townhomes use shared recycling drop-off areas rather than their own curbside carts, according to the city's Recycling for Residents page. Businesses use the city's separate business garbage and recycling service. Areas outside city limits aren't served.

Carts out: Carts at the curb the night before or by 6 a.m. on collection day; take them back in by 7 p.m. Under the city ordinance (Common Questions page), containers can be out from noon the day before until 7 p.m. the day after, and setting out early or bringing in late can mean a $50 citation. Raleigh trash pickup holiday schedule

Raleigh hasn’t posted a holiday schedule for the rest of 2026; no 2027 schedule was found.

Raleigh doesn't post a holiday list. It says 'Some holidays require changes' and shows them only in each address's Raleigh Reuse calendar, so check yours before each holiday. In 2025, Thanksgiving pushed garbage, recycling and yard waste back one day (Thursday routes ran Friday and Friday routes ran Saturday), according to a city alert, and at Christmas, trash and recycling shifted back a day starting Thursday, according to Hoodline. New Year's collection in 2024 wasn't affected, according to the News & Observer.
